Ellis Park

In 2020, at the height of Covid, Warren Ellis felt motivated to do something good. The give back from his success, a success that he credits to as much luck as hard work, being too humble to acknowledge his world class talents. Through an old friend he was introduce, via Zoom, to a veterinarian nurse Femke Den Hass who has been working in Indonesia for over 20 years largely focusing on saving animals from human captivity. She works to either repatriate them to the wild, or where this is not possible, to find them a place where they can live out their days with dignity. Warren was immediately struck by both the need and the work Femke and her team was doing to try and meet this need. Warren asked what he could do and Femke said the greatest need was for a place where animals who were so damaged, they couldn’t be released into the wild could live out their days in comfort and relative freedom – a ‘forever home’ for the animals. From this meeting, the idea of Ellis Park Wildlife Sanctuary was born. It is no small irony that Warren, a man who has been damaged and rehabilitated has chosen this path to find a way to give back.
